While Akari is shining brightly as Starlight Queen, the duo unit "Cosmos", composed of Ichigo and Akari, just had a successful first live event! As time flows by while their activites continue, Ichigo, who is now in her third year of Starlight School's high school divison, is starting to become aware of her graduation that is coming in half a year. She knows that even after she graduates, she'd like to continue her idol activities. However, to pass the hurdle towards her graduation, there is one more fork in the road lying ahead. As idols, for Ichigo, Aoi and Ran, exactly what path would they like to move forward on from now on, this important decision is now something they must consider with care.

The franchise centers on "Starlight," a dance and dance troupe beloved the world over. Karen and Hikari promised each other when they were little that one day they would perform together on that stage. Time passes and now they are both 16 years old. Karen is very excited about the dance lessons she takes every day, keeping her promise close to her heart. Hikari changed schools and now lives far away from Karen. But the gears of fate bring them together again, destined to meet again. The two, along with other hopefuls, will compete in a mysterious audition to become part of this great company.

Aichi immediately likes Vanguard, so he begins to play it with his friends Misaki Togura and Kamui Katsuragi, and others like his new rival Kai (who is one of the best Vanguard players). Aichi plays every day and he strives with all his soul and heart to play better, so when he battles Kai, Kai will recognize Aichi's worth.

Nagisa Misumi and Honoka Yukishiro couldn't be more different. Its story is set in Aikatsu Planet, a world where everyone can become cute idols using an avatar. While spending school life, the main characters are aiming to become top idols. Everyday parts such as the main character's school life will be filmed in live-action, and the Aikatsu Planet! world will be drawn in anime and 3DCG (like the previous series). The live-action part's cast members will form a unit "STARRY PLANET*" and perform as idols at events and on YouTube. A new Data Carddass game linked to the TV series, "Data Carddass Aikatsu Planet!" is also scheduled to begin its service this winter.
