When dead people starts returning to the small Japanese town of Aso, government official Kawada is dispatched to uncover the “truth”.

Zhang Chu Lan was a normal college student until he gets caught up in a terrible incident in a small village while visiting his grandfather's grave. While walking through the graveyard to pay visit to his deceased grandfather, Chu Lan is assaulted by zombies until a mysterious girl wielding a knife appears and leads him to a confrontation with the zombies. After successfully fending off the zombies and further encounters with the knife wielding girl known as Feng Bao Bao, Chu Lan's life begins to change as he learns that the martial arts technique taught to him by his grandfather, the technique is being sought after by many martial arts groups with ulterior motives. The story follows Chu Lan's attempt to find out his grandfather's real history and his supposed connection with Feng Bao Bao.

It is the story of the Ayoreo Totobiegosode people, told from the point of view of Asoja, a bird-god with the ability to bring an omniscient- temporal gaze, who becomes the narrator of this story developed in a crossing between documentary and fiction.

Measuring 6.9 on the Richter Scale, it was the largest Earthquake to hit Japan since the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923. In the aftermath of the quake, Tsuyoshi's finds his priorities changing. Dealing with the death of one friend while helping another to cope with a very personal loss, Tsuyoshi is forced to mature into someone who can no longer ignore the suffering around him.

It is only at their sister's and mother's funeral when a woman meets her niece after many years. The niece is now a grown girl. The sister takes on the task of informing the deceased's friends of the death while the daughter cannot bring herself to symbolically accept the demise of her mother. Takeshiro Matsuura was a Japanese explorer who was the first person to document the inner reaches of what is now known as Hokkaido. He explored the area extensively during the mid 19th century and created a map of the island that included parts which had been ignored by earlier cartographers. He visited Ainu communities and compiled records of the large numbers of the population who had been conscripted for forced labor far from their homes. Matsuura suggested the name Hokkaido for the area

Uchida Mayu is a high school student in a peaceful town near Tokyo. She suffers from violence from her stepfather and plans to run away to her uncle's home in Tokyo. As she is about to board the last bus to Tokyo, a terrible looking old person causes her to miss the bus. She attempts to walk across a ridge. Meanwhile, Mayu's uncle Uchida Kazuki is a freelancer writer. He chases after the hideous monster Yoshie who attacks people. Kazuki receives a phone call that his niece Mayu ran away. He begins a search for her and finds her cellphone on a mountain path. He sees Yoshie's picture on her cellphone.

The Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people have seen their population dwindle and their culture threatened since coming into contact with non-Native Brazilians. Though promised dominion over their own rainforest territory, they have faced illegal incursions from environmentally destructive logging and mining, and, most recently, land-grabbing invasions spurred on by right-wing politicians like President Jair Bolsonaro. With deforestation escalating as a result, the stakes have become global.
