On the eve of the outbreak of war between Japan and the U.S., U.S. Naval Intelligence sent a spy to Japan to spy on the movements of the Japanese Navy. The spy's name was Kenny Saito. He was a second-generation Japanese American who had served as a volunteer soldier on the Spanish front. Meanwhile, on Etorofu Island, Yuki Okatani, whose father was a Russian sailor, had run away from the island five years earlier, only to return home after being abandoned by a man and fired from her job. Saito soon receives information that the Japanese Navy has decided to launch a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, and that the rendezvous point is Monokan Bay on Etorofu Island, and infiltrates Etorofu Island. Yuki meets Saito and falls in love with him, not knowing that he is a spy...

Isoroku Yamamoto, the Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto (1884-1943) was the Japanese Naval commander who was given the order to attack Pearl Harbour, an order he was duty bound to obey which went against his own personal beliefs. While this infamous attack is a low point in Japanese and US history it wouldn’t have happened if the Japanese government had listened to Yamamoto in 1939 and searched for a more peaceful way to end their war campaign, proving his many ominous presages of the outcomes of the attack to come true.
Momotaro's Sea Eagles

This government funded propaganda film features the classic folklore character Momotaro and his animal friends as they attack Pearl Harbor which is defended by characters strikingly similar to Bluto and Olive Oil from the Popeye cartoons. The film follows one of the many new aircraft carriers built since Pearl Harbor, known as THE FIGHTING LADY in honor of all American carriers, as it goes into action against the Japanese in the Pacific Ocean in 1943. Excerpts from the music soundtrack, by Richard Rodgers and Robert Russell Bennett, were re-recorded and sold as record albums. The original TV broadcasts comprised 26 half-hour segments—Sunday afternoons at 3pm in most markets—starting October 26, 1952 and ending May 3, 1953. The series, which won an Emmy award in 1954 as "best public affairs program", played an important part in establishing historic "compilation" documentaries as a viable television genre. Over 13,000 hours of footage gathered from US, British, German and Japanese navies during World War II were perused in the making of these compelling episodes.
