A young man gets into a problem with a mighty don after his inebriated friends harass a girl, who happens to be the don’s daughter. When she goes missing, the don blames them for it and wants his revenge.

A powerful and princely Sheikh lives in 18th Century Persia, makes a living renting out properties, and recovering taxes and dues on them. He lives in a palatial house with his wife, Zubeda, and son, Ahmad. When Ahmad grows up, Zubeda notices that he is spending too much time with women in their harem, and wants his father to get him involved in their business. Sheikh accordingly instructs Ahmad to collect all revenue, which he does so. A few days later, Sheikh is informed that Ahmad has been spending time with a friend named Farid, and is romantically involved with a dancing girl named Yasmin. A visibly upset Sheikh accordingly warns Ahmad to mend his ways, give up on Yasmin and return home, where he has planned his marriage with Nadira, the daughter of Amir Qasim.

Zakhariapothen Jeevichirippundu revolves around the life of Zacharias Pothen and his family from a small village named Peerumedu. Zacharia Pothen is a 40-year-old retired Major. Because of his passion for his profession, he got married only after his retirement and was living happily with his wife. Suddenly one fine day, some of his old friends came there with hidden intentions, which he was unaware of, leading to the occurrence of unexpected things around him. This turned his life into a completely different track. This is when the real story of the movie starts.

Shiva, the ageing business tycoon, bound to his wheelchair, sharing a strong bonding with his son Vishnu. Indulgent, while Vishnu whiles away his time with his cronies taking life easy. The story revolves around Chakravarthy (Older Rajini) who is a successful textile businessman in Coimbatore. He is a great womaniser (perhaps his only weakness) and picks up any women he wants. He has wife Meenakshi (Lakshmi), his son Santosh (also Rajini) and his daughter Sangeetha (Vijayashanthi). It doesn't take long for Santosh to find his father's provocative behavior and tries to mend his father's ways. Radha (Saritha) gets introduced as a candidate for PRO (Public Relations Officer) interview and eventually gets selected and is sent to Hong Kong for training. Chakravarthy unable to tolerate his son's growing menace also sets off to Hong Kong for a vacation. Here he meets Radha and at one point ends up raping her. Chakravarthy flies back to India where he is met with a number of changes which all points out to the new General Manager.

The tale of Goddess Lakshmi leaving the temple to teach brothers Lord Jagannath and Lord Balabhadra a lesson was presented in the movie. This movie later remade in Hindi as "Jai Jagannath". Prashant Nanda acted as child Shri Krushna. Geeta Dutt was in the Hindi version. Famous singer Hemant Kumar also given voice in this film.
