When he accidentally kills a mobster he is imprisoned, and his life is changed forever. Upon his release, everything around him is different. He is now stuck in the sinking pit of the triad influence, and can neither escape from the merciless killings of the underworld, nor run away from the traps of the ordinary world. The only thing in his life that stays the same, is his love Sue. But is that enough to keep him from going over the edge?

The movie shows the confusion shown by the mob and the police over Yip's sudden philanthropy as he makes headline after headline for doing good deeds, not bad. This does not sit well with his old triad boss Brother Hung (Ti Lung) nor Hung's son, Gwai Chai (Stephen Fung). Gwai Chai in particular is itching to rise the ranks of the mob and take over and sets up deals on his own which increasingly puts pressure on himself to deliver. The mob's success hinges on Yip's connections to Thailand and Gwai Chai takes matters to the extreme in order to force his deal to be a success...

This spin-off movie provides a different contrast to the familiar Young and Dangerous films with greater character development. This time, the story's focus is on a female character - Sister 13 of the Hung Hing triad. In a triad underworld dominated by men, the film tells the story of how she faces trials and tribulations of rising to become the branch leader of Portland Street. The story shows the reasons she became a lesbian. The film also gives more details about the Tung Sing triad, and how the relationship between Sister 13 and Ben Hon develops.

Another sequel, E.U. was produced and released in 2009 continued with Ron Ng and Sammul Chan, alongside Michael Miu, Kathy Chow, Elanne Kong, and Michael Tse. Michael Miu reprises a new role as a triad boss in E.U., which is unrelated to his role in The Academy.
