Lalita catches the eye of J.B. and he immediately falls in love with her and decides he must marry her. He bribes Lalita's uncle Madanlal into convincing Lalita to marry him. However, Lalita refuses and J.B. kidnaps her and forces her to marry him. One fateful night, Lalita manages to escape and she meets Raj (Rishi Kapoor) whose family consists of an elderly grandfather who dotes on him and wants him to get married at any cost.

Vikram and Sunita love each other but Vikram's mother disapproves Sunita as her future daughter in law because of Sunita's poor background. Vikram and Sunita decide to marry without the will of Vikram's mother BUT on their way to temple, they come across with a serious accident. Science College Principal Tripathi is criticized by the college professors, as his younger brother Ajay failed the exam twice and fell behind by two years. Tripathi is angry with Ajay and wants him to give up poetry and concentrate on his studies. Ajay does not do this and instead leaves the house, telling his brother that he will establish himself as a poet and then return home. He submits his poems for publication but is told that they are lacking. He falls in love with the beautiful Nikita (Mamta Kulkarni), the daughter of a wealthy industrialist. Ajay wants to establish himself before getting married, and relocates to Bombay. Upon reaching there, he becomes engaged to Bollywood actress Jyoti (suchitra Krishnamurthy), and starts gambling and drinking. Nikita moves to Bombay and finds Ajay, a ruined young man. Together they must try to set his life right, so that he can fulfill the promise he made to his brother.

Thakur Suraj Singh lives a wealthy lifestyle with his wife; three sons - Kishore, his wife Laxmi & two children Pappu and Laali; Vijaykamal, & Mohan; and an unmarried daughter, Radha.
