Im weißen Rößl (English title: White Horse Inn or The White Horse Inn) is an operetta or musical comedy by Ralph Benatzky and Robert Stolz in collaboration with a number of other composers and writers, set in the picturesque Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. It is about the head waiter of the White Horse Inn in St. Wolfgang who is desperately in love with the owner of the inn, a resolute young woman who at first only has eyes for one of her regular guests.

The stooges are singing waiters who are enlisted by a doctor to try and cheer up a little girl. It seems that the girl's father is a banker who was kidnapped with $300,000 worth of bonds. Failing to cheer up the girl, the stooges go out looking for the father and by a series of coincidences wind up in the bad guys hideout. The villains return and after a wild fight the boys free the missing man.

Mathias, an Alsatian innkeeper, murders a rich Pole staying at his inn. However, Mathias' conscience will not let him rest, and the murdered man's spirit drives the innkeeper nearly mad. The victim's brother calls for an inquest and brings with him a sideshow hypnotist, who is supposedly able to read minds. Mathias, as burgomaster, is called upon to conduct the inquest, but under the intuitive eye of the hypnotist cannot resist torment of his own conscience.

Just gotten dumped via text message by her boyfriend, Ottilie Giesecke from Berlin cannot resist her father’s offer to spend a few days holidaying at Lake Wolfgangsee in the Austrian alps. Although the city slicker doesn’t think much of Schlager songs and mountains, she moves into the “Weißes Rössl” inn, where Dr. Otto Siedler immediately courts her. At least in Leopold, Ottilie finds a kindred spirit, because the headwaiter has been hopelessly in love with Josepha, boss of the hotel, for years. While the two cheer each other up, the next problem is already looming: Sigismund Sülzheimer wants to buy the Weißes Rössl in order to blow it up - of course out of heartache.
