Hajime is in line to be the next head of a prominent electronics company. He toils day and night over his work and has no time for his family. But one day, his mother in Shimane falls ill, and his best friend dies in an accident. Grief-stricken, Hajime returns home, where memories of his childhood dream come back to him. He had always wanted to be a train conductor and drive the local "bataden" Ichibata Electric Railway.

An old woman has died and her widower with dementia confesses to killing her. After this, the story goes back in time to show the events leading up to her death.

He instead becomes involved with the flirtatious Tomiko, who is also conducting an affair with Michiko's husband. When Michiko finds that her husband has abandoned her, she decides to take her fate into her own hands.

After getting dumped by her boyfriend Kentaro, Tomita Momo, who works at a library, suddenly discovers the existence of her ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend Riko through his social media. She is intrigued by Riko, who is the opposite of herself in terms of fashionable sophistication. For "a certain reason," she goes to see Riko in person. To bring back her dead friends, high school student Naomi (Rina Ikoma) goes back to the elementary school where a tragedy took place. She becomes involved in a new incident.
