A feature film comprised of 24 short stories THE COLLECTION was made by filmmaker Bruno de Almeida and a group of new york city actors and writers from May 2001 to December 2005 under a project called the DV Workshop. Shot with a digital camera and edited on a home computer these films were shown on this website as they were being made, as a work in progress. In order to enhance his ability to make people laugh, a struggling comedian takes part in a teleportation experiment that "improves" whatever cargo is being teleported... but the results are no laughing matter.

Doris Poole, whose parents were theatrical people, was orphaned as a child, and four members of the troupe adopted and raised her. When grown, she has become the leading lady in a San Francisco stock-company. She meets and falls in love with Ted, the millionaire son of a rich widow, but she thinks he is only a tax-cab driver. His mother objects to the romance and looks into Doris' past. She learns that her father had murdered, in a fit of jealousy, her mother, and tells Doris what she has found out. The four actors who had raised her had never told her how she happened to become an orphan. They persuade Ted's mother to send him on a voyage to the Orient in order to get him away from Doris. But they neglected to tell the mother they had also booked passage for Doris on the same ship.

Una Noche En Mexico

One story, one script, one cast, one location two languages. A unique project that talks to two cultures. These films are dedicated to the 'Dreamers' in the US that is stuck between two countries and two cultures. Pablo is a first generation Mexican/American born in the United States, his parents gave him a great education and family life as they assimilated into the American lifestyle. His parents planned on returning to Mexico to retire but after the death of Pablo's mother their dream of returning to their beloved country died with her. Pablo's father vowed to show Pablo the roots of his heritage and sends his son to Mexico to their family's Tequila factory in hopes he will understand and appreciate his heritage. Little did he know that "One Night in Mexico" would change his son's life forever.

Death Strokes

Through the film, Ivan makes a couple of odd decisions in order to overcome his detachment. First, he goes along with the wild desires of his girlfriend, Rosa. Later he gets tricked into adopting a pig. At a time when Ivan's life turns absurd, he must find himself; beyond death and unbearable heat. The film is also an allegory about the desire to overcome the current hard times in México.
