Now her family business is failing, her love life is in shambles, her passion for cooking has died and her childhood best friend and fellow chef Jake Turner has left town to find work in the big city.

The owner of a historic inn decides to enter a prestigious cooking contest to win funds for renovations and get free publicity, but she is a horrible cook. She recruits a renowned chef to help but the kitchen isn't the only thing heating up.

Rising to the top of his profession, Kelly plummets to the bottom thanks to his fondness for intoxicating beverages. Molly nurses and coddles Kelly back to health, giving nary a thought for her own comfort or happiness.

Sweet Gordon, an affable English teacher in Brooklyn, has beaten the odds; a French Girl has fallen in love with him and he’s fallen even harder back. But their future is thrown into limbo when she interviews for an executive chef position in her hometown of Quebec City. It would seem that his new employment would be a piece of cake compared to his last job as a police officer, but not so. Tenants start dying, left and right, bizarre and bloody deaths. The greedy old owner, Wang, puts unrelenting pressure on Gus to "Rent apartments!!! Rent Apartments!!!" Gus finally gives in and makes a fateful error in judgment. He rents to vampires.
