On April 20, 2012, HBO cancelled the series after three seasons. The theme song is "I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive" performed by country music star Hank Williams.

Laser Fart began as a joke submission during a light month in 2004. Creator Dan Harmon was able to keep it alive with a Jack Black cameo in episode 2.
